Climate: The climate in the Solomon Islands is tropical monsoon with mainly two different seasons, the wet and dry seasons. The wet seasons are from February to May, and September to November, while the dry seasons are between December and beginning of February, and from June to mid September. The graph below shows the average climate in the capital city of the Solomon Islands (Weather Online).

Seasonality: The annual temperature range for the capital city Honiara is 9 degrees celsius (Weather and Climate). For the city of Auki, the annual temperature range is 10 degrees celsius. The annual precipitation range for Honiara is 270 mm, or 10.63 inches. For the city of Auki, the annual precipitation range is 250 mm, or 9.84 inches (Auki Climatemps). Comparing the capital city of the Solomon Islands to Honolulu, they're pretty similar. The annual average temperature of Honiara is 27 degrees celsius and for Honolulu, it's 25.3 degrees celsius. The annual average precipitation for Honiara is 2177 mm, or 85.71 inches, while in Honolulu it's 1618 mm, or 63.7 inches (rainfall weatherdb). In Honiara, it is both hotter and wetter than Honolulu. The seasonality in Honiara is pretty low. The temperatures are usually similar all year round.

  1. Comparing this to Japan, the weather is a little different because we have a wider range. With precipitation, I would have thought that they would be relatively similar. However, Japan only has 138mm of annual range precipitation (in Tokyo).
